From 2018-2020, we worked with the Corita Art Center on an evolving campaign to foster the legacy of artist Corita Kent and update the Corita Art Center’s brand in LA community and online.
After a phase of content experimentation and audience development, our goal was to design a digital strategy including content calendars and templates that could be brought in house and managed directly by Corita Art Center staff. At Two Tigers, we love helping small arts nonprofits build capacity and become more self sufficient, working towards the goal of making ourselves obsolete.
Building a Cohesive Social Media Brand
We loved working with the Corita Art Center to create a playful but consistent look and feel for their Instagram presence. One of our major goals was to find a way to share Corita’s ideas, rather than just relying on posting her artwork. Here is a sampling of our favorite posts.
While working with the Corita Art Center, their reach on social media grew 250%, with an engagement rate of 40% (8x higher than industry standard).
Videos for Social Media and YouTube
Video content was also a key part of our strategy to diversify the Corita Art Center’s online presence and capture new audiences.

Learning By Heart (At Home)
Created during the pandemic, this video series is inspired by Corita Kent and Jan Steward's seminal text, Learning by Heart: Teachings to Free the Creative Spirit.
The first video introduces the main concepts from the book: looking, sources, structure, connect + create, work + play, and celebration. For the rest of the series, we worked with artists to remotely film their perspectives on how Corita’s teachings have influenced their own creative practices. Each video ends with an assignment to try at home.
To give the series a signature look, we worked with graphic designer and illustrator Mary Mitchell to create a digital version of the “amen alphabet,” a style of writing taught in the Art Department at Immaculate Heart College. All letters except A-M-E-N are uppercase.

Activating Audiences Online
In 2019, we worked the City and County of Los Angeles to have November 20th named Corita Day in honor of her 101st birthday. We also commemorated #CoritaDayinLA on social media, through a coordinated online activation of the individuals and organizations interested in fostering her legacy.
